Roaring Resilience Testimonials
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Being an Advocate runs in my family. Recently, my sister, Adrienne Spires, M.S.Ed, released her memoir on overcoming domestic violence. It is now available on Amazon.
I was privileged to write the Foreword.
“When I found out Mommy was pregnant, I was excited because I wanted a little brother. Then you arrived. Not a boy. Even when you weren’t crying, you had inherited the Young family’s glassy eyes, so you looked like you were about to cry. To my 4-year-old ears, it seemed like you cried all the time. Little did I know that this was the beginning of you learning how to advocate for yourself.
Readers will be introduced to your origin story and understand how insidious domestic violence and abuse occurs within families. You provide a view into how love can turn dangerous and the longer-term impact on survivors and their children.
Over the years, I’ve watched your grit as a mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, and advocate. You have always been resilient and overcome many obstacles. So, when you said you wanted to write a book to help others, I had no doubt that you would deliver a story that would inspire.
It is incredibly brave to share your journey as a survivor and non-offending parent for others to know how to face challenges head on with faith not fear. Our parents would be proud of you for turning your trauma into a testimony.
I’m also proud that that little crying baby is my … sister who Roars in the Lion’s Den!”

MICHELLE MURRAY
Roaring Resilience reads like a new friend telling you her life story. It’s warm, inviting and familiar. The author manages to bring levity to very serious events without stripping them of their significance.
From the very beginning, Roaring Resilience brings you into the author’s world and makes you feel like part of her family. This book was a wonderful blend of personal anecdotes and helpful, while sometimes disheartening, statistics.
This is definitely going on my reread list.
